On Sunday, April 23, Shugen Sensei officiated over a jukai ceremony for six students who have been practicing and studying the Bodhisattva precepts for several years.
Throughout the week leading up to Sunday, the group worked with Kaishin Jamieson who oversaw the sewing of their rakusus. Shugen Sensei also met with the students each day to further explore aspects of the moral and ethical teachings. Their new dharma names are said to reflect an aspect of their character that has become apparent to Sensei in the work they have done this far along their spiritual path:
Rachel Yuho Rider (“Deep Treasure”)
Rachael Seijo Nevins (“Sacred Peace”)
Erin Tosei Schulman (“Way of Sincerity”)
Holton Shukei Walker (“Study the Unborn”)
Rocio Myoho Aragon (“Persevering within the Mystery”
Finn Jogen Schubert (“Complete Perfection”)
Congratulations to each of them!
